2. Blu-ray disc or BRD Part 2

Last week our first BRD title Stargate arrived, and this week we add The Punisher and viewer favourite Weeds: Season 1. From next week we should have around 50 titles! A quick member search showed 12 of you already BR equipped, primarily with a PS3. Add a screen with HDMI, and you'll be able to enjoy the joys of high definition video. One advantage of BR is its relative capacity as demonstrated by the entire season of Weeds being on 1 disc (2 on DVD) - rental savings for you! Based on demand and uptake, we will add more titles accordingly.

Here is an explanation of the different player profiles from Hi-Def Digest:

The basic Profile 1.0 (also known as the Grace Period Profile) available on all Blu-ray models released before November 1st, 2007 includes neither a secondary video decoder nor an internet connection.

Profile 1.1 (also called the Final Standard Profile or "Bonus View") adds decoders for secondary PiP video and audio, plus 256 MB of local storage capability.

Finally, Profile 2.0 (or "BD-Live") includes those secondary video and audio decoders, a larger 1 GB of local storage capability, and an internet connection.

3. New arrivals

(BOOK NOW) Be Kind, Rewind - Experience the antics of two outcasts, Jack Black (School of Rock) and Mos Def (The Italian Job), as they attempt to save a local video store in this outrageous and offbeat comedy from Academy Award-winning writer/director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Amateur film director Mike (must find a way to save the business after his magnetized friend, Jerry (Black) erases every movie in the store. Using an outdated video camera and their own special effects, the two embark on an adventure to remake all the movies, from Ghostbusters to Driving Miss Daisy, turning the two town misfits into local celebrities!
