Here you can post messages to other users of the page regarding CD availability, soundtrack discussion, or other such items of interest regarding Zimmer's works.
If you didn't get the notice, Zinfo has been revamped, with lots of new sound clips.
Backdraft - details on 'new' release is on PETITION.
It's from the last of the mohicans soundtrack, a very nice piece
ANYONE KNOW THE MUSIC FROM THE ENGLISH PATIENT TV AD/TRAILER? REAL FAST PACED ACTION-LIKE TENSION MUSIC?
Okay...this is the toughest one of all time:
I challenge somebody to find the music used in the STRANGE DAYS teaser. A real kicking techno riff!! Not the TV adds but the the theatrical teaser. THE TOUGHEST FIM TRAILER CHALLENGE OF ALL TIME. If you can answer this...your are a film music god. NEXT: Can anyone find me HOOSIERS on CD?
Skriver denne beskjeden p norsk, til alle andres store irritasjon.
(To everyone else: sorry for my norwegian message...)
I wonder what Hans Zimmer did to become such a great filmcomposer as he is today. Music-technology is something special and can be used in many different ways. I prefer filmcomposing, which is something I would like to know more about. In my country there is no kind of education like filmcomposing, so if anybody knows anything about this, please mail me.
Wow, that subject joke was a bit easier, lol
Dude, the CD you are looking for is called Come See the Paradise, composed by Randy Edelman. Great score!
For anyone else with similar questions, there is a list just for you: 1) Go to www.filmmusic.com, 2) Click on the "Music" option on the main page, 3) Click on the "Reference" heading for reference links, 4) Click on the "Trailer Music List," which is nea r the top, and is updated through December 1996. Has almost every movie for every question!!!!Hope that helps!!!!
Along the samelines, does anyone know where the trailer music from the 1993(?) film Geronimo is from? This is not the Disney film, but the Walter Hill film with Gene Hackman. I'd really appreciate it! (This is one not on the list for some reason)
Yumbo, thanks man, I owe you one! (hahahaha -- again, should get to you by Friday)
Everyone elze (lol) -- Caught another clip of Smilla's Sense of Snow on the Tonight Show last night -- sounds great with some really suspenseful and foreboding music......
Until later, I'm off!!!!!!!
*snootches away into the sunset*
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE MUSIC THAT WAS USED IN THE CHAMBER TRAILER?
THEY OFTEN USE IT FOR HARRISON FORD FILM TRAILERS SUCH AS "CLEAR AND PRESENT
DANGER". IT INVOLVES A LARGE STRING SESSION WITH ASSENDING NOTES THAT BUILD AND BUILD.
The ads for THE ROCK on cable TV pay-per-view have, I believe, Zimmer Music I've never heard before. Anyone have an idea what it is. It kicks ass too. Maybe it's BAD BOYS which I don't own
Also, still looking for a FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, have BLACK RAIN, PACIFIC HEIGHTS, and others to trade. Would also be willing to buy an audio cassette of it, if you'd be kind enough to tape it for me. I have body heat on audio cassette and could trade that too.
Dear Peter and all zoodles,
Backdraft is NOT being re-issued; do not confuse the issue (lol). A few REMASTERED ('new') tracks will be included on an upcoming compilation.
As for the DOT petition - that was initiated back in November. I received 54 'votes'. I guess there are a lot more zoodles out there who want this score, but were too lazy or were unaware/offline.
Hans replied in December (see Zinfo); we appealed in German on Feb. 8th, and he then asked me to call him. He essentially re-iterated what he stated in December.
However, he did mention some plans - negotiations for a 'package', but it is too early to speculate/expect anything.
The original MOVIE score will not be released. However, he wants UNUSED bits as well as material from other movies released. It's basically a wait and see situation.
Watch Zinfo for more details. Feel free to add to the petition. Comment, gather OTHER people's support. There is an RA file to The Preacher's Wife there.
For now....go out and get WWW and Smilla's when it's released here (possibly March 4th). I have added a BEST CD BUY online comparison chart for your benefit as well.
Otherwise, buy DOT on VHS at $6, and tape excerpts like I've done - pretty good.
.....Zimmer on! (I've forgotten what I was actually sposed to write....darn in tarnazionz!)
Mr. Caine (lol).
I think we all should get together and petition to the relevant authority for the issue of the music soundtrack of Days of Thunder. If manufacturers are willing to re-issue Backdraft, I am sure we some demand in writing/email, they will feel our presence
The question is where do I post such petition? Please reply and post on the message board so that everyone can do their part!
I am looking for the CD of "Millennium".
I have several Zimmer CD's for trade or some other ones.
Trade/Sell list at http://www.tulsa.oklahoma.net/~friend
I was lucky to receive WWW as a Valentine's gift (first such thing!) yesterday.
As I've said, there are reports of certain copies not playing right:
Some only read 9 of the 12 tracks;
some have the end credits in the middle.
The 'normal' copy I have (Mojo Trax/Uni) is:
12 tracks (which you can find on Marco's listings), and runs for 42.17, of which 1.12 is silence.
I suspect the gap in Track 12 is how it runs in the movie, and may be the 'Kushner-Locke Co.' logo music (new) composed by Hans/Harry.
Looks like Harry Gregson-Williams is getting his turn (The Rock, Smilla's Sense of Snow), a la Nick Glennie-Smith. What is it with these hyphenated names? A British thing? (Not saying that they are.)
Anyway, here goes:
Listening post - 2 channel stereo YAMAHA mini.
1 - ...low, calm, quiet...serene...swelling!!!!!! watch that bass (the stupendous LOVE THEME that appears 3 times, a la Crimson Tide)...subliminal! denouement.....
2 - clarinet/oboe synth...violins, quiet trumpet......White Squall-ish...ambience......rising synths...choir peeking. light notes, harp.....easy going.....darkness.....here comes the choir. hit that cue! loud synth rhythms......abrupt silence, 'reconaissa nce'....are we in a submarine? low notes.....
3 - rumble!!! drums.....violent violins.....
4 - melody number 2...soft wind, synths....pleasantries...guitar chord.
5 - let's continue the mood.....piano/keyboard notes...slow lilting trumpet...easy does it......VA-VA BOOM!!!!!! that theme! sweeping, grandiose.....enveloping....tapering.
6 - more light motifs...lol. uh-oh...spoke too soon. We're under water! CT mood strikes......
7 - here and there...(of the same).
8 - dark stuff.....eerie atmosphere a la Paperhouse.
9 - ...ethereal voice synths...
10 - the acoustic guitar makes its mark. well blended keyboards. piano...
11 - ...latin rhythms.....
12 - ...reprise....main theme...too good....oh yah - the zuice flows.....melodies....SILENCE...bombastic violin cue.
And here's a treat:
On thursday the 13. of february, I discovered the new Harry Gregson-Williams/Hans Zimmer-CD "Smilla's Sense Of Snow" in my local record store. The CD doesn't include any songs, just the score! I heard a few minutes of the music in the noisy shop, and at f
irst listen it sounded kind of cold and dark, i.e. the film's setting. It was not at all as up-tempo as for instance The Rock.
The CD was released on a strange label that I don't remember at the moment.
Is this score released world-wide, or perhaps it's a strictly european release? I haven't heard much talk about it actually.
Hello, nice to see everyone again.....
Man, it's getting harder to come up with those corny message subjects, hahaha.
Yumbo: Would you do me a huge favor and e-mail me or post the track listing for FYD? I still have some interest in it....and great petition info!
Rich: Good luck finding someone who will part with FYD for Black Rain, even though it is one of Zimmer's best!!!! Happy hunting.
Everyone else: Have a few items for sale or trade if anyone's interested:
Paperhouse - CD - hole punched
Regarding Henry - Cassette
Let me know.
Until then, "Adios, amigos...adios, my friends."
If anyone's interested, I have unlimited new/sealed copies of the very rare Edelman's COME SEE THE PARADISE. This is the "Trailer King." Used in more movie trailers than any other score.
$30 each or will consider trade.
Don't want to offend. What $$ are you looking for 'Regarding Henry' and 'Black Rain'?
Well...you should consider yourself VERY lucky if you'll find anyone out there willing to trade Black Rain vs. Follow Your Dreams. FYD is an incredibly scarce bootleg, while Black Rain is a usual nice-price store CD, which is not especially hard to find.<
Good luck, dude...
I forgot to ask whether anyone needs PAPERHOUSE.
On another not quite irrelevant note, here's something you may need to keep your habit going, maybe improve it.
I purchased the modem last week, and realised it is not what I wanted. Rather than lose money by swapping it with the retailer (for another), I am trying to help somebody out there, who knows this is the modem for them.
I paid $180 for it on Feb. 1st.
I will post it to whoever in the US for $155.
(For rec.music.movie users, I am willing to take $5 off any Zimmer/etc. CD I am imparting)
Please let me know ASAP. It is AS NEW, but missing the inner cardboard packing because they flattened it for shipping.
Chris C. =:) =:) =:) ....tickle me Yumbo
To save a lot of trouble, I am going to try and buy up as much stock of rare Zimmer. To determine the feasibility of this, could you please inform me if you need any of these:
Nomination for best score in a musical or comedy!
I spoke to Hans at length on Saturday about the petition....
Zinfo has the continuing details.
Chris....it's a great day!!!!
I have an excellent CD of BLACK RAIN and want to trade for someone's FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS COMPILATION.
I have an excellent CD of BLACK RAIN and want to trade for someone's FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS COMPILATION.
Hey there Zim-heads!
Got some news on those hard-to-get Zimmer soundtracks:
I have the following:
Paperhouse - notched
Regarding Henry - CASSETTE
I can get you in touch with (or get):
The House of the Spirits
Regarding Henry - CD
Radio Flyer (I think)
If you're interested, or you just want to talk some Zimmer, drop me an e-line....:)
Zee y'all later!!!
Anyone need FYD Collaboration for $50 inc. postage?
I am looking for Radio Flyer.
Can someone give me a hint, where I can find it or are there
"traders" out there?
Drop me an E-Mail
Would like to know whether anyone needs:
MILLENIUM - out of print.
RADIO FLYER - out of print.
I'm making an order tonight!
And a long conversation short:
hans and I discussed the petition at length, and it was somewhat fruitful. All Zinfo....at Zinfo!
I am convinced that the Zimmer song (track 8) from the Rain Man Soundtrack has been redone and am wondering if anyone knows who else has recorded this song. I am sure I heard another version in a record store several months ago. Could possibly have been Z immer extending the song, perhaps on another album. Overall, I just love the tune and wanted more info on it.
Can anyone tell me what Zimmer tracks are out of print? Thanks alot
Broken arrow is still out there and widely availible. You shound'nt have much trouble finding it
Found this in a local used CD shop, was wondering how
common it is:
Title: Hans Zimmer - New Music In Films
Label: Milan? says it's made in Switzerland
What's on it: on track each from
Burning Secret (23:59)
The Fruit Machine (20:08)
Diamond Skulls (4:22)
Does anyone know if the Broken Arrow sountrack is still out there?
I'm interested in the Regarding Henry soundtrack. Please write or call me at 241 McKee Place #8 Pittsburgh, PA 15213. (412) 681-6532. Thanks a bunch.
I want a copy of the Regarding Henry soundtrack if possible. My address is 241 McKee Place #8, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Phone (412) 681-6532. Please write or call. Thanks!!
Anyone interested in trading their copy of BEYOND RANGOON for my excellent condition DROP ZONE?
Hi Jon and all others !
The CD you mentioned is released on the RCA-Red Seal label here in Germany. Last year they issued some new-recordings of older
scores, such as "Nosferatu", a Charlie Chaplin disc including "Gold Rush", a Dimitri Tiomkin disc including a suite from "High Noon" and also a Franz Waxman disc including Sayonara.
These discs were mostly recorded in Berlin by various conductors, such as Carl Davis and Elmer Bernstein.
As for this special CD that has the name "Hans Zimmer" on it, I'm not quite sure, if this is "OUR" guy or not.
As soon as I see this disc in our CD stores here, I will let you
If anyone knows where I can find the Willow Soundtrack on CD or
cassette please let me know. I loved the movie and now I'm looking for the soundtrack to go with it. Please help me if can. Thanks.
Today, I discovered a new title under "Hans Zimmer" in a CD-catalogue with new releases for february. The CD was called "Four Alice Comedies", and it was a collaboration with something/someone called "Rias Sinfio" The price was 199 norwegian kroner, or ab
out £20, i.e. quite high. Does anyone know anything about this item? Could this be a compilation album from four comedies? Is Rias Sinfio an orchestra? Or perhaps a person?
The soundtrack to True Romance should still be widely available in the market. If you do enough checking, you may be able to find it locally (depending on where you are). All three score tracks by Zimmer are nice - a real cool montage of stuff. Persona lly, I really enjoy track #11 - "Amid The Chaos Of The Day". Nevertheless, all of the Zimmer trademarks are there.
Pick it up and ENJOY!
I have moved all files to a new server; update your address book, and bookmarks please.
New info will be uploaded throughout the week.
you need to special order it, but it does exist and "you're so cool" is on it. Zimmer does two other tracks , but of course they're no as good. You're so cool is a classic
I am looking for the score for True Romance, if it doesn't exist, what are the three songs on the soundtrack that are Zimmers? I love that song in the background of "you're so cool..." and I've been looking for a very long timne to try to find it...
Ok, after 5 darned hours of figuring online files, I am on!!!
My own account! Ya! lol
well, that's potential good news, and 24 up-to-date Zinfo etc!
Lots of tinkering left though.
Well, time for some dinner, and a shower...expect lots of goodies by sundown tomorrow!
Zimmering on, well, I oughta...PLAY some ZIMMER!
choodles! (Sorry Mike, lol)
